How to File a DMCA Takedown on Quora

Quora's answers, posts, and Spaces make it trivially easy for someone to paste your blog article, book excerpt, or photography into their own content, and because Quora ranks well in search, the stolen copy can end up outranking your original. Quora accepts copyright infringement reports, but unlike most big platforms it doesn't publish a single, stable DMCA form URL, so knowing the route matters as much as the notice itself.

Before you start

  • Proof of ownership, your original article, book, or image, with a dated URL showing where it was first published.
  • The URL of every infringing answer, post, or Space page.
  • Your contact details, full name and a monitored email address.
  • Whether you're the copyright owner or an authorized representative.

Step 1: Copy the URLs of the infringing content

Every Quora answer and post has its own permalink, click the timestamp or use the share icon to copy it. If a Space is republishing your blog content wholesale, copy the Space URL and the URL of each copied post. Screenshots with dates are worth keeping in case content is edited after you report it.

Step 2: Find Quora's copyright reporting channel

Go to the Quora Help Center at help.quora.com and open the contact flow (the "Contact Us" article links to it). Among the request options, choose the one for reporting copyright infringement. If the menu layout has changed since this writing, search the Help Center for "copyright", Quora's Platform Policies confirm that infringement reports go through this contact form. Avoid relying on the in-product three-dot Report menu for DMCA purposes; that route feeds general moderation, not a formal copyright claim.

Step 3: Complete the copyright report

Describe the work that was copied and point to your original: "my article published at [URL] on [date]." Then paste the Quora URLs you collected. Quora's moderation team reviews what you list, so include every infringing answer and post, a report that names one answer won't remove the other five.

Step 4: Provide your details and the required statements

Give your full name and email, and state your authority, owner or authorized representative. Even if the form doesn't prompt for every element of a DMCA notice, include them in your description: a good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your report is accurate, and your typed full name as a signature. A complete notice is harder to ignore and easier to act on.

Step 5: Submit and save your confirmation

Submit the request and keep the confirmation email or ticket number. If nothing changes within a couple of weeks, reply on the same ticket with a short, factual follow-up rather than filing duplicates.

What happens after you file

Reports go to Quora's moderation team. Content that violates policy can be collapsed, hidden, or deleted, and accounts that repeatedly infringe risk edit-blocks or bans. You typically get an email about the outcome, though response times vary. Meanwhile, remember that scraped articles rarely live on Quora alone, the same text often shows up on Medium, LinkedIn, and content farms, each needing its own notice. If tracking your writing across the web and filing report after report isn't how you want to spend your evenings, Rulta is a done-for-you takedown service that monitors for stolen content and files the DMCA notices on your behalf.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Quora's DMCA form?

Quora doesn't publish one stable DMCA form URL. The reliable route is the Quora Help Center at help.quora.com, open the contact flow and choose the option to report copyright infringement.

Is the in-product Report button enough for a copyright claim?

Not really. The Report option in a post's three-dot menu goes to general moderation. For a formal DMCA claim, use the copyright option in the Help Center contact flow so your notice reaches the right team.

Do I need a Quora account to file?

Quora's Help Center runs on a separate support site where you submit a request with your email address, so you can generally file without logging in to Quora itself.

What happens after Quora reviews my report?

Reports go to Quora's moderation team. Content found to violate policy can be collapsed, hidden, or deleted, and accounts with repeated violations risk being banned.

What if another Quora user copied my Quora answer?

Quora also has a plagiarism policy requiring attribution. You can flag the copy through reporting, and because you wrote the original, a copyright report through the Help Center is available too.
